Poles block another checkpoint on border with Ukraine
The traffic of freight transport has been hampered at the Shehyni crossing point due to the blocking of traffic on the territory of Poland.
Source: Andrii Demchenko, spokesman for the State Border Service of Ukraine, in an interview with Ukrainska Pravda
Quote: "The available information provided by the Polish border guards indicates that the blocking of the traffic of freight transport began today at around 10:30 on the territory of Poland, on the road in front of the Medyka checkpoint (Republic of Poland), adjacent to the Ukrainian Shehyni checkpoint.
Traffic may be complicated when leaving and entering Poland because of this."
Details: As Demchenko explained to UP, all four checkpoints on the border with Poland, through which trucks weighing more than 7.5 tonnes are allowed to pass, are currently blocked for passage of trucks.
On this route, about 1,400 trucks are currently waiting to enter Ukraine from Poland.
At the same time, the organisers of such actions on the territory of Poland do not plan to obstruct the movement of buses and light vehicles.
The Polish border guards previously reported that traffic blocking may last from 23 to 26 November.
Currently, Ukraine's border guards are taking measures to monitor the situation and to clarify cooperation with the Polish counterparts regarding the procedure for the further passage of cargo vehicles and the categories of cargo that will be passed across the border.
Background: Freight traffic has been hampered on the Ukrainian-Polish border at the Yahodyn-Dorohusk, Krakivets-Korczowa, and Rava-Ruska-Hrebenne border crossings since 6 November. As of the morning of 23 November, 2,600 trucks are waiting to enter Ukraine on these routes.
