Zelenskyy warns military against entering politics
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has told British tabloid The Sun that military personnel who are going to enter politics should not "deal with war".

Quote: "If a military man decided to do politics, it is his right, then he should enter politics and then he can’t deal with war. If you manage war keeping in mind that tomorrow you will do politics or elections, then in your words and on the front line you behave as a politician and not as a military man, and I think that is a huge mistake."
Details: Zelenskyy believes that soldiers may show disobedience in such cases, threatening the unity of Ukraine.
"With all the respect to Gen Zaluzhnyi and to all the commanders who are on the battlefield, there is an absolute understanding of the hierarchy and that is it, and there can’t be two, three, four, five. It is one, in accordance with the law and in times of war this can’t even be discussed. That does not lead to the unity of the nation." the president said.
Background:
- Valerii Zaluzhnyi, Commander-in-Chief of Ukraine’s Armed Forces, stated in an interview with The Economist that the situation at the front has reached a stalemate in which neither side can advance because they are technologically equipped at the same level. The general said the situation reminds him of the First World War.
- Meanwhile, Zelenskyy noted that he does not think the situation on the front in Ukraine is a stalemate and said that Ukraine will not negotiate with Russia.
- Ukrainska Pravda sources said Ukraine’s Ministry of Defence was considering dismissing three commanders of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
- Volodymyr Zelenskyy has dismissed Tetiana Ostashchenko as Commander of the Medical Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
