Russia wants culture to be "beyond politics" while waging war
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has said that his country stands for the independence of the cultural sphere from political processes and is ready to develop cooperation even with cultural figures from unfriendly countries.

Quote: "We are advocating for culture to remain outside the framework of any political processes, any conflicts and any crises. Culture should know no borders.
We are ready to develop cooperation in this area with everyone, including, of course, first of all, those countries that have governments that would like to develop contacts in this area, but without closing the door to cultural and artistic figures from those countries where governments that are unfriendly to us are now in power."
Details: Lavrov also said that Russia was interested in increasing the number of foreign students in its universities and in expanding educational programmes in Russian in neighbouring countries.
