Increased control measures may lead to longer procedures at the border, the Customs Department of Lithuania said.

Special attention will be paid to the classification of exported goods. There have been cases where exported goods were classified under unmarked commodity headings to avoid sanctions, the department says.

Quote: "In the hope of understanding, we inform business representatives that due to the strengthening of control over exported goods, the terms of customs clearance of export procedures may increase," the department reports.

The Customs Department of Lithuania also suggests describing the declared goods in as much detail as possible, so that their characteristics that affect the classification of the goods can be identified from the description, and supporting documents can be provided.

  • The Council of the European Union approved the 11th package of economic and personal sanctions against Russia, primarily to strengthen the previously imposed restrictions and combat sanctions circumvention, on 23 June.
  • Earlier, it was reported that almost all sanctioned goods worth hundreds of billions of dollars continue to enter the Russian Federation.
