Russia allegedly "strengthens air defence" in Moscow and 16 other regions

Russian officials claim to have taken measures to protect critical infrastructure and have strengthened air defence systems in Moscow and 16 other oblasts.

Source: Kremlin-aligned news agency RIA Novosti, citing Nikolai Patrushev, Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation.

Quote: "Operational headquarters in the regions (Central Federal District – ed.) have implemented measures to protect the population and critical infrastructure, reinforcing air defence. 

Patrols have been organised in areas close to critically important and potentially dangerous facilities."

Details: Russian media claims that air defence systems have been strengthened "against the backdrop of attacks by Ukrainian drones".

Patrushev added that necessary "measures had been taken to enhance mobilisation readiness and civil defence".

For reference: The Central Federal District of the Russian Federation includes, among others, Moscow, Belgorod, and Kursk oblasts.
