UK Defence Intelligence has predicted that the Russians will suffer heavy losses if they decide to assault a key facility in Avdiivka, the Coke and Chemical Plant.

Details: Analysts note that in recent weeks, Russian forces have continued their attacks on Avdiivka, trying to encircle the city.
UK intelligence indicates that in the battles for Avdiivka, the Russians achieved certain successes that helped them get closer to the Avdiivka Coke and Chemical Plant, a key tactical position north of the city.
The plant is in a strategic position, overlooking the main road to Avdiivka, so if the Russian occupation forces captured it, it would become increasingly difficult for Ukraine to supply resources to the city.
"However, the industrial facility provides Ukraine with a localised defensive advantage and Russian forces will probably suffer significant personnel losses if they attempt to assault the facility," the report says.
UK intelligence indicates that Avdiivka has political significance for the Russian Federation, as it is located close to Donetsk, which has been controlled by the Russians since 2014.
Background:
- On 4 November, UK intelligence reported that during the assault on the city of Avdiivka, the Russian occupying forces lost about 200 units of armoured vehicles.
- Estonian intelligence predicted that the section of the front near Avdiivka would probably remain the point where the Russians would make their main efforts.
