Russians begin preparations for "presidential elections" in occupied territories

Russians in the occupied part of Zaporizhzhia Oblast have begun preparations for the so-called "elections of the president of Russia".

Quote: "They are starting to form commissions, campaign groups for the 'elections' in the Russian Federation. Their goal is to make a propaganda film about the fact that the voting supposedly took place. Now they are re-registering everyone who lives in Berdiansk, Melitopol and other settlements. They will record everyone as having voted 'for' [Putin – ed.], but it will definitely not be true."

Details: As Fedorov said, local residents refuse to cooperate with the Russian Federation en masse.

Quote: "There are very few locals; the Russians are importing tens of thousands of Russian officials, teachers, prosecutors and police officers. It is these people that will form the electoral commissions. The palette is different. They are even brought from Siberia. They bring people from Dagestan who barely speak Russian."

For reference: The so-called presidential election is set to take place in March 2024. The exact date has not been set yet; the Parliament has to choose the date in December. 

Background: 

• Earlier, Putin approved amendments to the Russian legislation, which allows the holding of "presidential elections" on the territories where the Kremlin imposed martial law, i.e. in occupied Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson oblasts of Ukraine.
