Putin visits HQ of Southern Military District in Rostov

Russian President Vladimir Putin visited the headquarters of the Southern Military District in Rostov-on-Don after his trip to Kazakhstan on the night of 9-10 November.

Details: Putin listened to reports on the progress of the so-called special operation [the official term used by Russians to describe the ongoing war with Ukraine – ed.] and got acquainted with new military equipment models at the headquarters.

He was accompanied by Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu, Russian General Staff Chief Valery Gerasimov and other military leaders.

Background:

• Russian President Vladimir Putin, who was in Astana for talks and signings with Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, mispronounced the president’s name several times.
