Nina Matviienko was born in 1947. Her parents had 11 children, and she was the fifth child in the family. Before becoming famous, Matviienko worked as a crane operator at a factory.
She has been married to an artist, Petro Honchar, since 1971. They had three children. Her son Ivan joined the monks. Her daughter Antonina became a singer. Nina Matvienko's third child, son Andrii, became a painter.
Nina Matviienko has toured Poland, Finland, France, Korea, Latin America, the Czech Republic, Canada, Mexico and the USA.
The singer was delighted with her granddaughters. And she felt as if she was getting younger around her younger granddaughter, Nina, named after her granny.
