Ukraine pays US$2.7 million in aid to victims of Kakhovka dam explosion
The Ukrainian government has paid 97 million hryvnias (approximately US$2.7 million) to victims of flooding in Kherson and Mykolaiv oblasts caused by the Russian attack on the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Plant’s (HPP) dam.

Details: Payments include a one-time state financial assistance of 5,000 hryvnias (approximately US$137) for people affected by flooding as a result of the Russian-caused explosion at the Kakhovka HPP.
"As of 5 October, the residents of Kherson and Mykolaiv oblasts affected [by the flood] have received a total of over 97.5 million hryvnias (approximately US$2.7 million) in such payments, with 18,482 residents of Kherson Oblast and 1,035 residents of Mykolaiv Oblast receiving the payments," the statement by the Ministry for the Reintegration said.
The ministry also noted that applications for this form of state financial assistance will be accepted until 31 October 2023 inclusive. Applications are open to people who at the time of the explosion at the Kakhovka HPP were registered as living in the settlements of Mykolaiv and Kherson Oblasts that were subsequently flooded.
This includes those who moved from the flooded areas of the temporarily Russian-occupied territory on the left bank of the River Dnipro to the territory controlled by Ukraine after 6 June 2023.
