Ukrainian Defence Forces advance near Bakhmut – ISW
The Institute for the Study of War (ISW) has assessed that Ukrainian troops made confirmed advances near Bakhmut and in the west of Zaporizhzhia Oblast on 30 October.

Details: Geolocation data published on 30 October indicate that Ukrainian forces have advanced to the northeast of Kurdiumivka (10 km southwest of Bakhmut).
Additional geolocation data dated 29 October indicates that Ukrainian forces have advanced slightly to the west of Robotyne in the west of Zaporizhzhia Oblast. The Ukrainian General Staff confirmed that the Defence Forces are continuing their offensive operations near Bakhmut and offensive operations on the Melitopol front.
Oleksandr Syrskyi, commander of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, stated that Russian troops near Bakhmut, Donetsk Oblast, have "significantly reinforced their group" and switched from defence to "active operations".
However, ISW is currently unable to verify significant changes in the composition of Russian forces near Bakhmut, the report reads.
Meanwhile, Russian military bloggers claim that positional battles continue northwest of Bakhmut near Berkhivka (on the northwestern outskirts of Bakhmut), Vasiukivka (12 km north of Bakhmut) and Orikhovo-Vasylivka (10 km northwest of Bakhmut).
