Ukraine could mobilise not only the ranks of the Armed Forces but also the enterprises of the military-industrial complex.

Quote: "Many companies lack qualified specialists. Conventionally speaking, there is a plant in Odesa Oblast, and there is a person of the relevant specialty in Chernivtsi Oblast. They can be mobilised and sent, for example, to storm landings [of Russian troops – ed.], but perhaps, given their speciality and qualification, they should be mobilised for this company in Odesa Oblast, where there is no suitable specialist."

Details: Rakhmanin notes that he is considering submitting a legislative initiative concerning this issue, but "does not have much hope that it would be met with understanding".

Background:

  • At the beginning of September, the Ukrainian Ministry of Defence approved a new Schedule of Medical Conditions, which is used to assess fitness for military service and regulate the service of those with limited fitness.
  • Later, Roman Kostenko, the Secretary of the Parliamentary Committee on National Security, Defence and Intelligence, MP from the Voice party, said  in an interview with Ukrainska Pravda that the strengthening of mobilisation measures in Ukraine may take place in the event of a change in military strategy.
  • The All-Ukrainian Union Freedom offers to solve the issue of lack of Defence Forces personnel by mobilising convicts.
