Kherson Oblast still dealing with aftermath of Russians' blowing up of Kakhovka dam
Reconstruction works continue in Kherson Oblast after the Russian occupiers blew up the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant in June and caused huge flooding in the region.

Quote: "The aftermath of the flooding caused by the explosion of the Kakhovka dam is being dealt with. Crews continue to remove the debris brought by the ‘big water' and caused by the destruction of buildings.
The Ostriv district suffered the most. Today, specialists are still working on Piatykhatska and Ozerna streets and Midnyi Lane."
Details: Kherson Oblast Military Administration stated that "no one will be left alone with the disaster".
Local authorities also reiterated: "If you need help dealing with the aftermath of flooding or hostile attacks, call the contact centre on 0800 101 102."
Background:
- The Russian occupiers blew up the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant on the morning of 6 June 2023.
- The dam and the turbine hall were completely destroyed. It was reported that the hydroelectric power plant could not be repaired. However, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy later stated that Ukraine would repair the Kakhovka dam.
- The Russians’ blowing up of the Kakhovka dam caused the flooding of dozens of settlements, human casualties and an environmental disaster. The Kakhovka Reservoir had gone dry. Entire districts were left without a drinking water supply.
