Israel to become more pro-Ukrainian due to Hamas attack and Russia's position – Ukraine's ambassador

Quote: "I think the government's position has changed because of the recent events. I am sure that Israel will be more pro-Ukrainian – not only its citizens and society, but also the Israeli government. Because the position of the Russian Federation, which has repeatedly expressed its support for Hamas, and [actions of] all the Iranian proxies that emerged in this large-scale terrorist attack against the State of Israel, are absolutely clear."
Details: Korniichuk also stressed that it is important to separate the approaches of the people and the government of Israel, and the people have been supporting Ukraine since the first days of the full-scale war.
Background:
- Hamas attacked Israel with rockets, and fires broke out in cities on 7 October.
- Russian President Vladimir Putin stated there was a need for Palestinian-Israeli negotiations on 13 October, which, in his view, should result in the creation of an independent Palestine with East Jerusalem as its capital.
- Subsequently, the media reported that Israel had sent a warning to Russia through diplomatic channels over Moscow's reaction to the Hamas attack.
