This is how he commented on the statement of the EU's special representative for sanctions, David O'Sullivan, who said that the restrictions against Moscow will not be cancelled even after the end of hostilities in Ukraine.
Background:
- Earlier, David O'Sullivan said he does not foresee any rapid lifting of sanctions significantly, even if the hostilities cease at some stage. "Prepare for five to ten years," a European official said.
- Russia became the most sanctioned country in the world after the full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.
- The Castellum.ai project reported that 15,242 sanctions had been imposed on Russia as of 16 October 2023, including 2,695 in effect since 2014 when Russia annexed Crimea.
