Russians and Belarusians admitted to the Karate World Cup 4 days before start

The World Karate Federation (WKF) has allowed 20 representatives of Russia and Belarus to participate in the World Karate Championship as neutral athletes.

Details: The tournament will start on 24 October in Budapest (Hungary). Russians and Belarusians were included in the list of participants only four days before the start of the tournament.

Background:
- The World Karate Federation suspended karate players from Russia and Belarus in response to a full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
- In March, the International Olympic Committee recommended allowing Russian and Belarusian athletes to compete with a neutral status.
