UK’s Secretary of Foreign Affairs James Cleverly has said that Hamas is to blame for the death of Palestinian civilians in the Gaza Strip.

Background:
- German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock said earlier that Hamas has "taken the entire population" of Gaza hostage.
- Hamas said that 2,215 Palestinians have been killed and nearly 9,000 injured in the Gaza Strip since 7 October as a result of Israeli air strikes.
