Russia replaces Ukrainian priests with Russian ones in the occupied territories

Russia is forcibly incorporating religious communities of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (of the Moscow Patriarchate) into the Russian Orthodox Church. Those priests who refuse to cooperate with the Russian authorities are replaced by seconded members from the Russian Orthodox Church.

Details: Representatives of the Russian Orthodox Church also hold positions in other church communities in the occupied territories; for example, in the seized churches of the OCU. 

According to the NRS, special attention is paid to Mariupol.

The so-called priests from the Russian Orthodox Church are engaged in intelligence activities in the temporarily occupied territories, collecting data on patriotic parishioners and clergy. This data is then passed on to Russian special services.
