Erdoğan hopes grain deal will resume

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said he hoped for a "good result" on reviving the Black Sea grain deal in the near future.

Details: Erdoğan said that Ankara is in close contact with the UN regarding the resumption of the grain deal, and added that he would soon discuss this issue with the organisation's Secretary-General, António Guterres.

"Revitalisation of the initiative is a priority for the whole world. We are in close contact with the UN on this issue," the Turkish president said.

Erdoğan said that Russia has two requirements for the resumption of the grain deal.

"First, the inclusion of the Russian agricultural bank in the SWIFT (international banking) system. Secondly, the ships used for transportation need to be insured. Ships must be insured in order to transport goods to European or other ports," he added.
