As a result of Russian missile strikes last winter, about 63% of the equipment necessary for the stable passage through the autumn-winter heating period was seriously damaged.

Details: Klitschko specified that this year over UAH 1 billion [about US$27 million – ed.] was allocated from the local budget for the repair of heating equipment.

The funds also went to purchase mobile boiler rooms that would provide heat to social institutions, in particular hospitals.

Quote: "The city forms an arsenal of alternative power sources at those facilities where power allows. For example, more than two-thirds of Kyivteploenergo boiler houses have been provided with generators, so if the lights are turned off, they will continue to work and give heat to the houses connected to them," Klitschko stated. In addition, the mayor of Kyiv added that the capital is preparing for the beginning of the heating season. Heat supply companies of Kyiv completed hydraulic tests on networks and heat sources.

"Repaired about 2.500 cases of damage to pipelines. We took technical measures to improve the reliability of the equipment: technical diagnostics of boilers, replacement of individual equipment," Klitschko said.

He added that Kyiv and Ukraine will face another difficult winter, because the Russians will once again try to destroy critical infrastructure and leave Ukrainians without power, heat and water.
