Power outage in St Petersburg: loud noise was heard shortly before
Power was cut off in St Petersburg’s Shushary district and at Pulkovo airport on the evening of 24 September.
Source: Latvia-based Russian independent news outlet Meduza, citing Telegram channels
Details: Telegram channels reported that an hour before the outage, locals heard a loud noise and saw a bright flash. There is also no water supply in the area.
"According to locals, the power outage happened about half an hour ago, and before that, they saw a flash in the sky and heard a cotton [an explosion - ed]," said a channel named Ostoronozhno, Novosti (Caution, News).
[Russian propaganda, initially refusing to use the word ‘vzryv’ (explosion), used ‘khlopok’ (a bang) instead. However, ‘khlopok’ also means ‘cotton’, and this has since become a meme – ed.]
The authorities have yet to comment on the incident.
