Second ship carrying Ukrainian grain through temporary corridor arrives in Türkiye

The second ship to use the temporary corridor to export Ukrainian grain has arrived in Türkiye.

Details: The bulk carrier Aroyat, carrying 17,600 tonnes of Ukrainian wheat bound for Egypt, crossed the Black Sea through the temporary corridor and has reached Türkiye.

The ship’s crew are citizens of Egypt, Türkiye, Azerbaijan, Belgium and Albania.
Background:
- Earlier it was reported that the Aroyat had left the port of Chornomorsk on Friday 22 September laden with 17,600 tonnes of Ukrainian wheat for Egypt.
- The cargo ship Resilient Africa, the first vessel carrying Ukrainian agricultural products to pass through the temporary corridor in the Black Sea, arrived in the Turkish Bosphorus.
- The first two bulk carriers confirmed their readiness to use the temporary corridor towards the port of Chornomorsk to load almost 20,000 tonnes of wheat.
- Ukraine opened registration for merchant vessels and their owners to sail on temporary routes from/to the ports of Odesa after Russia unilaterally withdrew from the Black Sea Grain Initiative.
- The first vessel to use the Ukrainian Black Sea corridor after Russia’s withdrawal from the grain deal arrived in Istanbul on 18 August.
