US presidential candidate DeSantis opposes Ukraine's NATO membership
US Republican presidential candidate Ron DeSantis has spoken out against Ukraine's membership in NATO, saying it is not in the security interests of the United States.

Quote from DeSantis: "I don’t think NATO membership is in our interest, to me. All that would do was [sic] to add more obligations to us, so if you’re adding more obligations, then what are the benefits that we’re getting in return?"
Details: DeSantis has also reiterated in the episode that he does not believe the US should give a "blank cheque" to Ukraine if it does not use leverage to end the conflict.
The podcast episode featuring DeSantis' interview was released on 23 September, two days after US President Joe Biden met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in the US.
