In a brief statement, the ICC said it had detected "abnormal activity affecting its information systems" at the end of last week.
"Immediate measures were adopted to respond to this cybersecurity incident and to mitigate its impact," the court added.
The ICC declined to provide further details and said that its priority was to ensure that it could continue its work.
AFP recalls this is not the first time the court has been the target of international espionage.
Last year, the Netherlands claimed to have prevented Russian spy Sergei Cherkesov from entering the court under the guise of a Brazilian intern. In March, he was indicted in the United States.
The International Criminal Court is investigating war crimes and crimes against humanity in Ukraine; in March, it issued an arrest warrant for Russian President Vladimir Putin in connection with the deportation of Ukrainian children.
In response, Russian authorities put ICC prosecutor Karim Khan on the wanted list.
