Quote: "First of all, I would like to save you from those crazy thoughts and crazy ideas to check in practice whether Belarusians can use this weapon," Muraveika said on Belarusian television channel Stolichnoye Televideniye (STV).
Details: He emphasised that, having received nuclear munitions from the Russian Federation, Belarusian specialists had undergone a full cycle of training in Russia, worked out a set of measures on simulators and real facilities, passed a check test and clearance, and were given an appropriate opportunity to use these weapons.
"We have the spirit, will and readiness to defend our country by all means if necessary," added the First Deputy State Secretary of the Security Council of Belarus.
Background:
- On 25 May, the defence ministers of Russia and Belarus signed documents on the deployment of tactical nuclear weapons on Belarusian territory. A month later, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that some of Russia's nuclear weapons were already in Belarus.
- In late June, self-proclaimed Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko instructed the government to develop an "algorithm for the use" of nuclear weapons deployed by Russia.
