Quote from Ihnat: "We get plenty of questions about where, in what country, how many pilots and how many aircraft we are getting. Unfortunately, we cannot answer these questions in such detail right now.
Not every state wishes to go into great detail on the process that takes place on its territory.
I may only assure you that the process has indeed moved forward significantly. It hasn't been static, but it has gained momentum. The pilots are learning and undergoing training."
Details: Ihnat said the leaders of the countries where Ukrainian pilots are trained would further elaborate on this. However, the Ukrainian Air Force spokesman added that the number of countries joining the aircraft coalition is growing.
Background:
- Ukrainian pilots started training on F-16 fighter jets in Denmark. Greece and Portugal are reportedly planning to join the training of Ukrainians on the F-16s.
- Denmark, the Netherlands and Norway announced their decision to hand over the aircraft to Kyiv after the training.
- In early September, then-Defence Minister Oleksii Reznikov said the Ukrainian Armed Forces would have the F-16s available for use in combat in the spring of 2024.
