Ukrainian intelligence on potential new wave of mobilisation in Russia: "End of September, decision to be made in autumn"
The Russian regime is now faced with the need to conduct a new wave of mobilisation, possibly this autumn.
Source: Andrii Yusov, a representative of Ukraine's Defence Intelligence, on the national 24/7 newscast
Quote: "A new wave of official mobilisation in Russia has been postponed several times. We remember that a so-called partial mobilisation was carried out. After that, mobilisation measures in the aggressor state did not stop, and every month, tens of thousands of people were recruited in one way or another, by hook or by crook, to the Ruscist army. Now the regime's leadership is really faced with the need for a possible new wave of mobilisation. This could take place about the end of September, and the decision may be made in autumn."
Details: Yusov added that this does not mean that these mobilised troops will appear at the front soon, because the process of training and coordination takes a lot of time. He also reminded us that Putin did not deny the possibility of a new wave of mobilisation on Tuesday.
Background:
- Having promised that Russia would not mobilise more than 300,000 people, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that another 270,000 Russians had signed contracts to serve as "volunteers".
- On 21 September 2022, Putin announced a "partial mobilisation" in the Russian Federation. Russian Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu reported that 300,000 reservists would be mobilised in Russia.
