Quote: "This is one of the stages of today's rotation of IAEA representatives at the Zaporizhzhia NPP. Bomb disposal experts from the units operating on the Zaporizhzhia front have neutralised five Russian anti-personnel mines on the path of the mission."

Background:

  • A group of IAEA experts monitoring the ZNPP between 14 and 21 August recorded several explosions and sounds of gunfire heard on the plant.
  • The mission experts had the opportunity to inspect several objects of the ZNPP after Ukraine's statements about the Russians mining the nuclear power plant.
  • Rotations of experts of permanent monitoring missions of the IAEA were successfully completed at the Rivne, Khmelnytskyi, and Pivdennoukrainska NPPs at the beginning of July 2023: the ninth group of experts has begun its work.
