Our army is not that big − Ukraine's National Security Secretary on media reports about Ukrainian losses
Oleksii Danilov, Secretary of Ukraine’s National Security and Defence Council, has said that claims made in the Western media that the losses of the Armed Forces of Ukraine have reached 70,000 dead are exaggerated and untrue.

Quote from Danilov: "Regarding the losses, [the media reports] are not true. We have not had an army of such a size that we can talk about losses of 70,000 soldiers."
Details: Danilov emphasised that "the people who wrote this do not have [accurate] information about the state of affairs."
Background:
- Earlier, US officials told The New York Times that the number of casualties on both sides during Russia's full-scale war against Ukraine is almost 500,000.
- According to US estimates, the total number of Russian losses is 300,000, of which 120,000 are killed and 170,000-180,000 wounded. According to the same calculations, Ukraine’s casualties amount to about 70,000 soldiers killed and 100,000-120,000 wounded.
