The High Anti-Corruption Court of Ukraine (HACC), using the materials gathered by the Security Service of Ukraine (SSU), has granted the motion by the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine about asset recovery in favour of Ukraine. The assets in question are those belonging to Sergey Kalashnik, senator of the Federation Council of Russia, subject to sanctions.

The 100% of authorised capital of the Motordetal-Konotop Ltd in the city of Konotop in Sumy Oblast will be nationalised.

Quote: "This is one of the biggest plants in Europe, which produces cylinder liners for automotive, diesel and ship engines.

Before the Russian full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the production of the Ukrainian plant was used to cover the needs of the Russian military industry. Specifically, Russians needed the unique components of the Konotop plant for the production of naval ships."

As a senator of the Federation Council of Russia from Kostroma Oblast, Kalashnik voted for the ratification of the "agreements" about the recognition of the so-called Donetsk/Luhansk People’s Republics.

After the beginning of the full-scale invasion, he acted in favour of the "integration" of the temporarily occupied regions of Ukraine into Russia.

Background:

The Ministry of Justice filed a lawsuit with the High Anti-Corruption Court to seize the property of Russian Senator Sergey Kalashnik.

Kalashnik is a Russian senator, member of the Federation Council, who ratified the Russian government's decision to sign the Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance between the Russian Federation and the so-called Donetsk People's Republic and between the Russian Federation and the so-called Luhansk People's Republic (non-recognised and self-proclaimed quasi-state formations in Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts – ed.).

"A member of the Russian legislature who provides political and economic support to Russia's illegal attempts to annex sovereign Ukrainian territory through sham referendums," the National Agency on Corruption Prevention said.

He is subject to sanctions imposed by Ukraine, the US, the EU, the UK, Canada and other countries.
