Some children in Kharkiv to attend school in metro
Children in Kharkiv will be going to school underground several times a week.
Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov said that the city has already organised 60 such classes for 1,003 children.
Earlier, Terekhov explained that the children will be studying in the metro three or four times a week in shifts.
The schoolchildren will receive free meals, and they will be transported to the metro by bus.
The mayor noted that the metro is being equipped with facilities for the children, including air recovery systems, lighting and toilets.
Terekhov said that the presence of schoolchildren in the metro during the academic year will not affect the operation of the metro or its potential use as a shelter.
General secondary education institutions in Kharkiv will start the school year remotely.
Background: Starting from 1 September, 240,000 schoolchildren in Kyiv will be studying offline, two and a half times more than last year.
