A funeral ceremony is being held in Kyiv for a Ukrainian Air Force pilot, Andrii "Juice" Pilshchykov, who was tragically killed along with two other pilots in a plane crash in Zhytomyr Oblast on 25 August.

Earlier, Oleshchuk's order promoted both deceased Majors Viacheslav Minka and Serhii Prokazin to the rank of lieutenant colonel (posthumously), and Captain Andrii Pilshchykov was promoted to the rank of major (posthumously).

Background:

  • Andrii Pilshchykov, who went by the alias of Juice, and two other pilots were killed in a collision between two Ukrainian training aircraft in Zhytomyr Oblast on the evening of 25 August. The Vasylkiv Tactical Aviation Brigade reported that in addition to Andrii "Juice" Pilshchykov, Viacheslav Minka and Serhii Prokazin were killed in the 25 August crash in Zhytomyr Oblast.

The crash occurred due to the collision of two planes during a turning manoeuvre.

Pilshchykov was active in the Western media and lobbied for the provision of modern F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine.
