Military ranks conferred on pilots killed in Zhytomyr Oblast plane collision
The pilots who tragically died in Zhytomyr Oblast on 25 August have been conferred military ranks, and they were nominated for state awards.

Details: In accordance with Order No. 661 of the Commander of the Ukrainian Air Force dated 28 August 2023, Major Viacheslav Mintsa and Major Serhii Prokazin were posthumously conferred the military rank of Lieutenant Colonel, and Captain Andrii Pilshchykov was given the rank of Major.
Background:
- Andrii Pilshchykov, who went by the alias of Juice, and two other pilots were killed in a collision between two Ukrainian training aircraft in Zhytomyr Oblast on the evening of 25 August. The Vasylkiv Tactical Aviation Brigade reported that, in addition to Andrii "Juice" Pilshchykov, Viacheslav Mintsa and Serhii Prokazin were killed in the 25 August crash in Zhytomyr Oblast
- The State Bureau of Investigation is investigating the plane crash.
- President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that all the circumstances of the crash of training aircraft in Zhytomyr Oblast that killed three pilots would be established.
The State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) reported that among the lines of enquiry concerning the investigation of the recent crash of two training aircraft in Zhytomyr Oblast,which killed three pilots, technical malfunction of the aircraft, pilot error, and a violation of flight management procedures were being considered. The crash occurred due to the collision of two planes during a turning manoeuvre.
