Putin may be behind Prigozhin's plane crash – Biden
US President Joe Biden has suggested that his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, may be behind the plane crash in Russia's Tver Oblast, which presumably killed Yevgeny Prigozhin, the financier of the infamous Wagner Group PMC.

Details: Biden said there is "not much that happens in Russia that Putin is not behind but I don’t know enough to know the answer".
Biden said this just after playing sports at Lake Tahoe, where he is on holiday with his family.
CNN noted that Biden once said Prigozhin should be concerned about his safety after the failed rebellion.
"I said [if I were Prigozhin – ed.] I would be careful what I rode in. I don’t know for a fact what happened, but I’m not surprised," Biden added.
Previously: US President Joe Biden was informed about the plane crash in Russia, in which Yevgeny Prigozhin, the leader of the Wagner mercenary group, may have died.
Background:
- On the evening of 23 August, Russian media and Rosaviatsiya [Federal Air Transport Agency − ed.] reported that a small plane with Yevgeny Prigozhin, the leader of the Wagner Group, on board, had crashed. All 10 people on board were reportedly killed. The media reported that, in addition to Prigozhin himself, his deputy, Dmitry Utkin, who went under the alias Wagner, was also on board the plane.
- The United States was in direct contact with Russia during the so-called Wagner rebellion.
