Zelenskyy begins meeting with Swedish Prime Minister: Discuss CV-90 production in Ukraine

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy began talks with Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson during his visit to Sweden on Saturday.

Details: Swedish media reports Kristersson met Zelenskyy at Harpsund, his country residence. The Ukrainian delegation included several ministers, but it is not specified exactly who they were. 

On the Swedish side, Foreign Minister Tobias Billström, Foreign Trade Minister Johan Forssell, Civil Protection Minister Karl-Oskar Bolin and Defenсe Minister Pål Jonson are participating in the talks.

Zelenskyy announced talks with the Swedish Prime Minister and underlined that the main priority would be defence cooperation, particularly the "powerful" Swedish CV-90 infantry fighting vehicles. 

"Our soldiers are already effectively using them at the contact line. We also plan to produce CV-90s in Ukraine," Zelenskyy said. 

Background: On Saturday morning, the president started a working visit to Sweden together with First Lady Olena Zelenska. There he will meet with Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson, King Charles XVI and Queen Silvia, Speaker of Parliament Andreas Norlén and heads of parliamentary parties.

This is the first visit of the president of Ukraine to Sweden since the beginning of a full-scale Russian invasion in February 2022. At the same time, Ulf Kristersson, Swedish Prime Minister, was in Kyiv in February of this year.
