The German arms company Rheinmetall intends to start servicing tanks in Ukraine in the coming days.

Details: Papperger said the first twelve plant employees working in Ukraine have begun training in Germany, and twelve more will join them later.
Quote: "We will start servicing this month," he said.
The CEO of Rheinmetall also confirmed his intention to start the production of tanks in Ukraine as soon as possible.
"It can happen quickly; there have been enough well-equipped tank plants there since Soviet times," Papperger explained. He clarified that Rheinmetall wants to lease them and produce the equipment according to NATO standards on one or two production lines.
For reference: Rheinmetall is creating a production enterprise in Ukraine together with the Ukroboronprom Ukrainian state company and will have a majority stake in it.
Ammunition, armoured vehicles, and Panther main battle tanks will roll off the production line in Ukraine. Eventually, it is planned that the plant will produce up to 400 battle tanks a year and repair Fuchs armoured vehicles.
Background:
- It was reported in early July that the joint venture would open within the next 12 weeks. The German company expects to sign contracts to create two more joint ventures to produce ammunition and anti-aircraft defence.
