Details: The materials of investigation state that the deputy commander of the military unit instructed the soldiers to build a house for him near Odesa, instead of fulfilling their duties for the defence and protection of Ukraine since August last year.
While military personnel worked as construction workers, they were paid the same wages as their colleagues. This caused more than UAH 2 million (US$54, 000) in losses to the state.
The deputy commander was served with a notice of suspicion for power abuse (Art. 364.2, Art. 426-1.5 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). He faces up to 12 years in prison.
