The Ukrainian energy system’s repair campaign is proceeding according to plan, and five nuclear power units have been repaired by now, with four more under repair. A total of 62% of coal handling plants' (CHP) power units and 70% of thermal power plants’ (TPP) units have also been repaired.

Quote: "We understand that it is highly probable that the Russians will continue large-scale attacks on the power system. As for nuclear power plants [NPPs], five nuclear units have been repaired, four more are under repair. CHPs: 62% of the power units planned to be repaired, were. And TPPs: 70% have been repaired," Shmyhal wrote.

Details: In addition, 32 HPP units have been repaired or are under repair. Ukrenergo (Ukrainian national energy company) repaired almost 80% of the main networks. High-voltage substations have been restored to pre-war levels.

Shmyhal said multi-level protection is being formed for energy facilities.

Authorities also allocated UAH 4.8 billion (about US$130 million) to the oblasts from the Fund for Dealing with the Aftermath of Russia's Armed Aggression. The funds will be used for the restoration of residential buildings, educational institutions, hospitals, energy and water supply facilities, and shelter construction.

Shmyhal added that the government has expanded the programme for the replacement of incandescent lamps.

"We are expanding the programme of replacing incandescent lamps with LED ones, implemented by Ukraine's Government together with the EU. Cultural institutions, social welfare organisations, homeowner associations, libraries and museums, sports organisations and others can use it [the programme – ed.] now. The goal is to replace 50 million lamps in order to reduce the load on the energy system." Shmyhal noted.

Background: One of the NPPs’ nuclear unit was repaired 15 days ahead of schedule, which added 1,000 MW of energy to Ukraine's electricity system.
