Woman killed after elderly couple caught in Russian shelling in Donetsk Oblast

Russian forces shelled Yelyzavetivka in the Marinka hromada in Donetsk Oblast on Friday, 11 August, killing a woman and injuring her husband. [A hromada is an administrative unit designating a city, town, or village and its adjacent territory - ed.]

Quote from Rudenko: "As of 19:00 on 11 August 2023, the Russian Federation forces attacked the village of Yelyzavetivka in the Marinka hromada, Pokrovsk district; they likely deployed artillery. A projectile hit the grounds of a privately owned house, killing a 70-year-old woman. Her husband, 76, sustained a blast injury and shrapnel wounds."

Details: The prosecutor’s office reported that the man received medical treatment.

A pre-trial investigation concerning the violation of laws and customs of war was opened.
