Quote: "Another good news for the Air Assault Forces. Today we sent an invitation to negotiations on the supply of 22 multipurpose AW101 helicopters, which will soon replace the post-Soviet models," said Mariusz Błaszczak, Polish Defence Minister.

These vehicles are likely to be part of the 25th Separate Airborne Brigade. Earlier, it was also said that helicopters could be made available to Polish Special Forces.

The information was also confirmed by the Arms Agency, which said that PZL Świdnik would be responsible for the negotiations.

Just two days ago, the first AW101 helicopter landed in Świdnik. Three more should arrive soon. The machines will be included in the equipment of the 44th naval aviation base in Darłówo, thus replenishing the arsenal of the Navy.

The AW101 helicopters are a design developed by Italian and British engineers working for AgustaWestland.

The machines have now been delivered to 15 countries. They are in service with the armed forces of Algeria, Saudi Arabia, Denmark, Japan, Canada, Norway, Italy and the United Kingdom.

The AW101 is developed in dozens of versions for different ships, although manufacturers state that it is optimised for sea missions. Among experts, this vehicle has a reputation as a large, good machine, although it is quite expensive to maintain.

Earlier, it was revealed that next year Poland will be able to replace the German Patriot air defence systems, which temporarily protect the country's skies, with its own.

At the end of July, the Polish government announced that they were restoring military units in the army and creating new ones to almost double its number.
