Russia's attack on Zaporizhzhia NPP would affect the whole world – top NATO official
The head of the NATO Military Committee, Rob Bauer, said that in the event of a Russian attack on the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant (NPP), its consequences would affect the whole world.
Source: Bauer in an interview with the LBC radio station, European Pravda.
Details: According to him, this is something in which the whole world would be involved because such an event would have a huge impact on Europe.
Quote: "If this would happen - if this would happen - then it is a much bigger problem than just a military problem or something only for NATO," Bauer added.
He clarified that since it would be an ecological and medical disaster, it would go beyond NATO and security issues.
At the same time, the head of the NATO Military Committee admitted that he cannot imagine that a number of countries that support the Russian Federation will support these actions of its government.
Quote: "And therefore, one would think, one would hope, that the Russians will not do this because I think it will take away a lot of the support they have in the world if they would do this," Bauer is convinced.
Background:
- Earlier, Zelenskyy said that the Russian occupiers had approved a plan of mining the Zaporizhzhia NPP.
- In connection with the threat of a disaster at the Zaporizhzhia NPP, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has called on the EU to work on the next package of sanctions and introduce restrictions against the Russian company Rosatom.
- The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Dmytro Kuleba, has warned that the risk of Russia committing a terrorist attack on the Zaporizhzhia NPP, which is under the control of its occupying forces, endangers the entire OSCE area.
