Russian Defence Ministry claims Moscow targeted with 5 drones

The Russian Ministry of Defence has claimed that Ukraine has attacked Moscow Oblast with five UAVs, which were reportedly shot down.

Quote: "This morning [4 July], an attempt by the Kyiv regime to carry out a terrorist attack with five unmanned aerial vehicles against targets in Moscow Oblast and New Moscow was prevented."

Details: Four "Ukrainian UAVs" were reportedly destroyed by air defence systems in New Moscow.

And another drone was allegedly jammed by electronic warfare forces and crashed in the Odintsovsky district of Moscow Oblast.

The Russian Defence Ministry claims there were no fatalities or damage.

However, the Russian Telegram channel Shot reported a fire in the village of Krivosheino in New Moscow caused by a crashed drone and posted related photos and videos.

Background: 

  • Earlier, Russian media and Telegram channels reported that on the morning of 4 July, air defence forces allegedly shot down two drones in New Moscow, one of which allegedly targeted a military base in the village of Kubinka.
  • This led to about 14 flights being diverted from Vnukovo Airport to other Moscow airports.
