"Very kind and nice girl": What is known about Dasha and her mom who died in Kryvyi Rih
Ten-year-old Daria and her mother Nataliia have died in the Russian missile attack on the city of Kryvyi Rih on 31 July which hit a residential building.
The attack has resulted in 6 fatalities, and 75 people have been injured.
Tetiana, a neighbour of the deceased family, told Ukrainska Pravda.Zhyttia about Dasha, who was a friend of her daughter Melania.
"My daughter Melania and Dasha were best friends. We lived in the same residential building, the girls went to the same school. Dasha was in the fourth grade, Melania – in the sixth," Tetiana says.
Before the war the girls used to walk to school and home together, attended a dance studio and then signed up for an air gymnastics class. The two friends also liked to draw and play together, and invite each other over to spend some time together.
"Dasha was a very kind and nice girl. She was always cheerful and joyful. She was also very well-mannered. I just can’t believe in what has happened," Tetiana said.
Tetiana found out about the deaths of Dasha and Nataliia from her acquaintances. After the residential building was struck she tried to get in touch with them, but to no avail.
After the news about her friend’s death, Melania could not calm down.
Tetiana added that Nataliia, Dasha’s mom, worked as an accountant and dedicated a lot of time to raising her daughter.
Background: Russian forces attacked Kryvyi Rih using two ballistic missiles: one hit a residential high-rise building, and the other hit an educational institution. Four civilians were killed, a child among them. Search and rescue operations were completed.
