Rheinmetall completes training of Ukrainians to work at new plant in Ukraine
The plant, which the German arms company Rheinmetall will soon open in Ukraine, will employ Ukrainian citizens who are currently undergoing training in Germany.

Quote from Papperger: "Ukrainians who are currently studying in Germany will be employed."
Details: Papperger said the plant in Ukraine will be put into operation soon.
"We want to start working after the summer holidays," said the company's CEO.
It is noted that in the war against Russia, the Ukrainians rely on Marder infantry fighting vehicles, Leopard main battle tanks, self-propelled howitzers and military trucks, in the production of which Rheinmetall participated. The Gepard anti-aircraft system, which is also used by the Ukrainians, was developed by a Rheinmetall subsidiary in the 1960s.
Accordingly, it is important to keep distances to repair and maintenance facilities as short as possible. Rheinmetall wants to open repair centres in Ukraine so that tanks and other military equipment can be brought into shape on site.
Background:
- The plant is expected to produce up to 400 battle tanks a year and repair Fuchs armoured vehicles. In early July, it was reported that the joint facility would open within the next 12 weeks.
- Earlier, Papperger commented on the statements of Russian Foreign Ministry representative Maria Zakharova, who called the future plant in Ukraine a "legitimate target", assuring that it was not abandoning its plans to establish a plant in Ukraine and planned to protect it from attacks with air defence systems of its own production.
- The German company expects to sign contracts to establish two more joint ventures, one for the production of ammunition and the other for air defence.
