Zelenskyy says Russia will try to resume attacks targeting Ukraine’s energy sector this autumn and winter

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said that Russian forces might try to resume their attacks on Ukraine’s energy sector and stressed that Ukraine must be prepared for this on local and state levels.

Quote from Zelenskyy: "It’s clear that enemy [forces] will attempt to repeat terrorist attacks on Ukraine’s energy sector this autumn and possibly this winter. We have to be prepared for this at the highest, state, level and at the level of each individual city, village and town."

Details: Zelenskyy explained that Ukraine’s energy sector has a two-pronged defence strategy: first, physically protecting energy infrastructure facilities from missile and drone attacks, subversive operations and cyberattacks. Second, the management of the energy sector and its constituent parts in a way that will ensure effective energy regeneration and distribution even during the war.

"We will do everything we can on the state and security levels. The local communities’ responsibility is to help defence and security forces and government carry out measures to protect the energy sector, and to be prepared for difficult challenges and energy emergencies," Zelenskyy said.
