Russia extends deadline for repair of Crimean bridge until end of year

The Russian government has extended the deadline for the restoration of the Crimean Bridge until the end of this year after the attacks in October and July.

Details: The restoration of the bridge after the explosion in October has been extended until 31 December 2023. Previously, the Russians planned to repair it by 1 July.

After another attack on 17 July, the Russians planned to finally launch two-way traffic on the Crimean Bridge in November.
Background:
- On the morning of 17 July, Sergei Aksyonov, the so-called head of the Russian administration in occupied Crimea, said that an "emergency" had occurred on the Crimean Bridge, causing it to be closed to traffic. Russian Telegram channels were reporting that a span on the bridge had collapsed.
- Ukrainska Pravda sources reported that the night attack on the Crimean Bridge was a special operation by the Security Service of Ukraine and the Ukrainian Navy. Later, the version about two surface drones was voiced by the Russian propaganda publication RIA Novosti with reference to the National Anti-Terrorist Committee of the Russian Federation.
- Earlier, Russian mass media reported that the Crimean Bridge was being guarded by fighter jets from the sky, and by divers and fighting dolphins underwater.
- Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Russia would retaliate for the Crimean Bridge attack.
