Next month, Ukraine will be able to increase exports of grains and oilseeds from the current 2 million tonnes per month to 3 million tonnes, and in the near future – to 4.5 million tonnes.

Quote from Mykola Horbachov, the president of the Ukrainian Grain Association: "Ukraine is already able to export about 2 million tonnes of grains and oilseeds per month through the Danube ports. I hope that next month we will have a record and see the figure of 3 million tonnes."

Details: There are also plans to export grain via the European infrastructure by rail and road.

"This allows Ukraine to export about 3.5 million tonnes per month. And in the near future, with improvements, exports will reach 4.5 million tonnes per month," the Ukrainian Grain Association said.

Horbachov stressed it is extremely important for Ukraine to resolve the issue of reducing the cost of logistics.

Quote: "If we don't make it (logistics – ed.) cheaper for our farmers who work without any subsidies, they may reduce their sown areas for the next season. In this case, there will be no problem: Ukraine will have grain, and the world will be left without Ukrainian grain."

More details: He expressed confidence that the international community "must find ways and mechanisms to influence Russia so that the Black Sea Grain Initiative does not stop and Ukraine continues to feed the world".

Horbachov pointed out that before the full-scale war, Ukraine shipped 7 million tonnes of grain per month through the Black Sea ports alone, and, of course, it had not yet "reached the required parameters".

In his opinion, developed countries will pay for Ukraine's inability to export grain with food inflation, and developing countries will lack the ability to buy "such jewels as corn and wheat".

Background

On the night of 23-24 July, the Russians attacked the Danube port of Reni, destroying three grain warehouses.
