On Sunday, 23 July, Pope Francis mentioned Russia’s missile strike on Odesa in his Sunday address and called for prayers for peace in Ukraine.

Details: The Pope talked about Ukraine after the Angelus Prayer on Sunday.
"Let's continue praying for peace, especially for dear Ukraine, which continues to endure death and destruction, which sadly happened again last night in Odesa," the Pope said.
Previously: Foreign ministers and ambassadors from Europe, the UK and the US, Josep Borrell, High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, and the President of Moldova all condemned Russia’s missile strike on Odesa.

- On the night of 22-23 July, Russia launched a missile strike on Odesa. The Odesa Oblast Military Administration reported that six buildings were destroyed. The Transfiguration Cathedral, Odesa’s largest cathedral, was also severely damaged.
- Ukraine’s Air Force reported that Russian forces fired 19 missiles of various types, including five Oniks missiles, on Odesa Oblast; Ukraine’s air defence forces shot down nine of the missiles.
