Council of Europe Secretary General on new Russian attack on Odesa

Marija Pejčinović Burić, Secretary General of the Council of Europe, has commented on the night attack by Russian occupation forces on civilian facilities in Odesa.

Details: Marija Pejčinović Burić condemned the attacks on civilian facilities and called on Russia to stop its "barbaric actions".

Background: Earlier, Western foreign ministers and ambassadors, EU top diplomat Josep Borrell and the president of Moldova shared their reactions. 

On the night of 22-23 July, Russia launched another missile attack on Odesa. The Odesa Oblast Military Administration reported that six buildings were destroyed. The Transfiguration Cathedral, the largest cathedral in the city, was also severely damaged. 

The Air Force of Ukraine reported that Russians fired 19 missiles of various types, including five Oniks missiles, on Odesa Oblast overnight. Air defence forces shot down nine missiles.
