Sweden to allocate €522.6 million for projects to restore Ukraine

The Swedish government has presented a cooperation strategy for reconstruction and reforms in Ukraine for the period 2023-2027, which will provide 6 billion Swedish kroner (522.6 million euros) for reconstruction projects.

Details: The corresponding program of bilateral aid is the largest in terms of funding in the history of Sweden, and it was Ukraine that became its recipient.

Quote: "This was announced by Sweden's Minister for International Cooperation in the Field of Development and Foreign Trade, Johan Forssell, during an online meeting with the First Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Economy of Ukraine, Yuliia Svyrydenko," the message reads.

It is noted that the budget is distributed among the organisations responsible for implementing the projects:

Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA) – 5.7 billion kroner;

the Swedish Institute (SI) – 225 million kroner;

Folke Bernadotte Academy – 75 million kroner.

In addition, the parties discussed the issue of military risk insurance.

Quote: "The Swedish side noted that it is working on solving the issue of insurance for Swedish companies and guaranteeing trade operations because the Ukrainian market is promising for the development of trade and economic cooperation between the two countries," the ministry added.

Attention was also paid to the importance of humanitarian mine clearance in Ukraine, the replenishment of special equipment, the training of bomb disposal experts, and the inspection of contaminated lands.
